Specifications • The training provider must train Sports and Enrichment Assistants on sport, arts, culture and other enrichment programmes; • Training will have to be implemented at circuit management level; • Training will have to be facilitated face-to-face and will mainly be practical; • Training materials to be used will be based on the nationally approved documents e.g. Transfer of Skills document; • Participants will have to be issued with certificates of competence at the conclusion of training. Scope: • There are approximately 7706 Handymen/Handywomen across the province i.e. in all the 12 districts; • Training will have to be facilitated face-to-face and will mainly be practical; • The service provider must provide all relevant tools and materials (such as safety gear and all other relevant tools) for practical training; • Training materials to be used will be based on the nationally approved documents e.g. Transfer of Skills document; • Participants will have to be issued with certificates of competence at the conclusion of training. Specifications: Handymen/Handywomen must be trained, in consultation with the Department, at least on two (2) of the following skill sets: • Plumbing – Basic repairs to toilets, basins, urinals, drain piping and water piping including fittings; • Painting - Basic painting techniques; • Tiling – Basic tiling skills; • Glazing – Basic glazing replacement to windows; • Plastering – Basic plastering skills including cement mixing; • Carpentry – Basic tool skills and applications (tools to be provided by the schools from their Norms and Standards budget); • Electrical – Basic fault finding and multi-meter skills including replacement of globes and light fittings and repairs to socket outlets and light switches (multi-meters to be provided by the schools from their Norms and Standards budget).
