Tenders are hereby invited for the provision of a panel contract for professional civil engineering services in the Limlanga cluster on an “as and when” required basis over a period of five (05) years. Scope of Work: • Desktop study and walk over for Substations, HV Lines, Access roads, Eskom buildings and warehouses; • Geotechnical Investigation is to be done on the proposed site using provided coordinates; • Identify registered borrow pits/commercial source for recommended engineering backfill nearest to site; • Perform all relevant test for design of substation, HV Lines, Access roads, the clients buildings and warehouses; • Write the report and give recommendations on the geotechnical findings of the classification of soil on site as per the clients standard, for design of terrace and road pavements, Buildings, Storm water and relevant SANS Standards; • Mechanical properties of soil underlying the area; • Delineate the site into the prescribed geotechnical zone according to the different founding conditions; • Determine the soil properties through soil profiling including soil profile as per SAICE site investigation code of practice; • Determine and evaluate the regional geological character of the area; • Determine regional soil suitability covering the site; • Determine the availability of ground water; • Hydrological studies - Availability of borehole water and borehole recovery time; • Recommend necessary precautionary measure during design and construction; • Determine bearing capacity of the soil; • Laboratory testing of the disturbed soil sample; • Testing of concrete strength ( Cube test and Core drill test); • Compile and submit Geotechnical Investigation Report for access roads, Substation platforms, HV Lines, the clients Buildings and warehouses; • Performing Civil engineering design and compile construction drawings for Substations, HV Lines, Access roads, the clients buildings and warehouses and compiling design reports indicating all the rational design calculations and assumptions made during design; • Perform related tests for existing structural foundations, plinths and any other concrete structure to determine compressive strength; • Compile and submit civil design documents for Substations terraces, Access roads, the clients buildings, Storm water, Portable water and Sewer reticulations; • Prepare initial concept design and related documentation; • Borrow pits rehabilitation designs; • Advice the client regarding further surveys, analyses, tests and investigations, which may be required; • Establish regulatory authorities’ requirements and incorporate into the design; • Submit the designs and coordinate approval to the local council and relevant Road Agencies; • Refine and assess the concept design to ensure conformance with all regulatory requirements and consents; • Establish access, utilities, services and connections required for the design; • Provide cost estimates and life cycle cost as required; • Witness and review of all tests and mock ups carried out both on and off site; • Inspect the works and issue practical completion and defects lists; • The services required from the consultants will mostly commence at project definition phase (DRA) and will continue through to execution phase for monitoring purposes; • All Design will need to go through the clients internal processes for approval (TEF & DRT).
